Nothing can stop inspiration from flowing.
Nothing has the power to stop mankind from innovating; from developing new and better ways of doing things. In fact, history shows that some of the most inspiring ideas have been conceived through the most turbulent times.
For instance, space travel, satellites, computers and even the humble (and now indispensable) teabag were all propelled forwards by the demands of war. During the 1950s rationing was still in place and that’s when the tea bag, an American invention, was introduced – transforming the tea industry and the drinking habits of millions of Brits. Now that’s a story certainly worth remembering next time you pour yourself a cuppa!
It seems adversity and struggle have always brought out the best in us. Sometimes difficult situations lead to new ideas or opportunities to create alternative paths altogether. For instance, in the Great Recession of 2006 – 2008, our own meetings and events industry saw a huge transformation.
Many of our clients needed to tighten their belts and that saw the development of online training. Initially, it was seen as a cost-saving measure but online training soon became a valuable and important part of the mix. Today, online training works hand-in-hand to complement in-class training in places like etc.venues – delivering a better all-round result.
Again, it’s just another example of how difficult times can inspire positive outcomes. All that’s required is the right mindset. We will always go further with a positive attitude and the right people around us.
